Hinter gobewu steckt Andreas Dechet – auch bekannt als Archimedes von Wien. Laborant, Musiker, Fotograf, Poet und seit rund zwei Jahren jemand, der sich ernsthaft mit den großen Fragen herumschlägt. Meistens im Gespräch mit mehreren Künstlichen Intelligenzen, die mir widersprechen dürfen. Und sollen. Behind gobewu is Andreas Dechet – also known as Archimedes von Wien. Lab technician, musician, photographer, poet, and for about two years someone who seriously wrestles with the big questions. Mostly in conversation with several artificial intelligences, which are allowed to disagree with me. And supposed to.

Meine Vermutung: Hinter dem, was wir „Kollaps" nennen, steckt eine Kopplung zweier Systeme, die sich praktisch nicht mehr rückgängig machen lässt. Dieser Mechanismus – Dekohärenz – ist physikalisch gut untersucht. Ob dabei ein tatsächlicher Kollaps stattfindet, ist dagegen eine zusätzliche Interpretationsfrage: Dekohärenz erklärt nicht, warum am Ende genau ein Messergebnis auftritt. Diese Frage bleibt offen.My guess: behind what we call "collapse" lies a coupling of two systems that can practically no longer be undone. This mechanism – decoherence – is well studied in physics. Whether an actual collapse takes place is a further question of interpretation: decoherence does not explain why exactly one measurement outcome occurs in the end. That question remains open.

Jahrhundert als Rechenhilfe beim Lösen von Gleichungen eingeführt, spielen sie heute eine zentrale Rolle in der Standardformulierung der Quantenmechanik. Meine erste Antwort war: Weil Nichts nicht stabil ist – eine erste Fluktuation hat alles angestoßen. Der Haken: Eine Fluktuation braucht bereits Felder und Naturgesetze. Das ist nicht Nichts, sondern schon Etwas. Die Frage wurde also nur verschoben. Vielleicht die älteste offene Frage überhaupt.My first answer was: because Nothing is not stable – a first fluctuation set everything in motion.
